Christmas Eve Layout

This is a quick layout I made of my daughter, Makenna, passed out cold on Christmas Eve. She didn't get to sleep until about 11 that night, so this pic was taken around midnight. She was so cute-so tired, but we had to set out the cookies and milk and write a note to Santa before she could go to sleep. I love this picture. I want to remember her like this forever! Thank goodness for scrapbooking-now I can!

Blog Hop Winner

Hi y'all. I realize I am more than a week late posting the winner from the blog hop and I do apologize. Have you ever had a completely bizarre, totally crazy week? Like, Twilight Zone kind of week? Well, that's what we have had a my house. Some wonderfully good things, and some awfully sad things. Please keep my friends, the Baker family in your prayers. The father of that family took his own life this week, leaving behind a wife and three sweet little boys.
Anyway, I am happy and excited to announce the winner of the giveaway.
Makenna did her wonderfully random drawing, and this is the WINNER!

I'm with Carol! These are amazing. Loving the colors! TFS!

Every year I make decorative boxes for my family members to give to them along with their gifts. Not only does my family look forward to seeing what their boxes will look like each year, but they get to use them over and over again as part of their Christmas decor. I start with regular paper boxes from Hobby Lobby. These usually cost around $5 each, and if you use a coupon, even cheaper! I start by painting the edges of the boxes that won't be covered by paper or trim with a paint color that coordinates with the papers I have chosen. This year I used very traiditional type Christmas line by Bo Bunny for my mother, and a cuter, more country type paper line by K&Company for my brother and his family. After the paint is dry, I cut and trim the papers, use decorative borders and trims and embellishments. I apply the paper with Mod Podge, then adhere the embellishments with hot glue or glossy accents. Then, everything gets sprayed with glimmer mist, accentuated with stickles, and sprayed with an acrylic sealer for longevity. The year the box was made is part of the decor, and makes it fun to look back each year to remember-just like we do with ornaments. I am going to start storing each years Christmas cards, letters, and a DVD copy of that year's Christmas celebration.

Here is a pic of LAST year's boxes:

Keep going to my next (older) post to see the finished products for THIS year!

Finished Boxes!

These are the finished boxes! I am so happy with how they came out-the camera doesn't do them justice-they are so sparkly and pretty! Can't wait to get the gifts in them and get them under the tree :)

Wall Hanging Project

This is a Christmas wall hanging decoration that I made as a gift for a family member. This was very simple to do, lots of fun, and I think it turned out really nice! I used a simple wooden plaque from Hobby Lobby (with coupon I think it turned out to be $4), painted it, covered it with some scrap paper, and added lettering from my Cricut and random Christmas themed embellies. I glimmer misted all of it, and spayed it with a clear acrylic finish to protect it. I'm going to add a wall hanger assembly on the back, but other than that, it's finished! I did this very similar to the Halloween themed wall hanging I did the vid on in an earlier post. Thanks for looking!

Fall Layouts

These are some layouts I have been working on. They are 12x12. It has been a long time since I worked in a 12x12 format, but I got a new kit from Club Ruby Designers and the colors were just perfect for a pumpkin patch trip we made last year. I had tons of pictures, but didn't want to make tons of pages, so cropping the pictures and using them in the 12x12 layout made perfect sense. I am so happy with how they turned out!

Christmas Cards

We had a beautiful snow fall to wake up to yesterday, and it got me in the mood to make some more cards! Here are a couple that I worked on yesterday!

Christmas Card

Here is a card I made yesterday for my Secret Santa sister. This was the first time I have made one of the little paper medallions, and I just loved it! The card has been glimmer misted with marshmallow for a sparkly snow effect, and the frame was embossed and sprayed with Starburst Stains in Lapiz Lazuli. The picture does not do this justice, but hope you like it just the same. I had randomly picked up some Christmas stamps last week at Michael's to burn a coupon, and it turns out they were the coordinating ones for this paper I picked up last year! Love it! On the inside of the card I cut the corners with my new snowflake corner punch, then used some pine needle green shimmer ink to stamp the image, then of course, have to spray moe glimmer mist-you can never be too sparkly, right?

Autumn Layout

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year! I love the colors, the smells, the holidays...all of it! Every year we take our kids to the pumpkin farm. My two oldest are 20 and 18, but they still love to go and watch our four year old take it all in.  Our farm does hayrides, pony rides, has a petting zoo, apple and pumpkin snacks, and of course a large pumpkin patch, perfect for picking this year's jack-o-lantern from. This is a two page layout I created to put some of those pics in this year. We are going this Saturday, and I a think I am just as excited as my little one!

I used my Gypsy  to create the frames-the leafs and "Fall" are part of the frame, as well as the "Autumn" title and the apple basket. Can't wait to get my pics in there! Gotta make sure my clothes coordinate with the layout...lol! Yes, I am one of THOSE!
